Discover Tarangire
The Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s best-kept secrets. Located south of Arusha, it is striking for its high concentration of elephants and its landscapes dominated by majestic baobabs that stand as ancestral guardians of the savannah.
Although less known than Serengeti or Ngorongoro, for those who visit it, Tarangire becomes one of the most memorable parks: abundant fauna, a quieter atmosphere, and the feeling of being in an authentic and wild place.
The Home of the Elephants
Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants. In the dry season (June to October), hundreds of them congregate around the Tarangire River, the heart of the park, offering unforgettable scenes of entire families drinking, playing, and crossing the savannah.
For many travelers, it is here that the closest and most exciting encounters with these giants, a symbol of African wildlife, are experienced.
A Unique Landscape
The baobabs of Tarangire create a landscape very different from that of other parks in Tanzania. Some of these ancient trees reach up to 30 meters in height and are a photographic icon. In addition, the park offers a great variety of ecosystems: rivers, swamps, wooded hills, and open plains that concentrate diverse fauna.
Abundant Fauna
In addition to elephants, Tarangire is home to lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, and a large number of birds (more than 500 species recorded). In the dry season, the concentrations of animals are spectacular, as the park becomes one of the last water refuges in the region.
